Natasha Lubis’ body of work contemplates the portrayal of feminine archetypes within the context of our current, fatiguing media-saturated epoch while assessing their deep ties with history, popular culture, as well as psychological and literary perspectives.
A mythic viewpoint permeates Lubis’ work, forming an integral part of her visual language intertwining with psychological elements, phantasmagoria, and a certain yearning for the natural world, evoking a sense of enchantment and uncanny allure.
Lubis’ visual practice often combines traditional mediums, digital sensibility, and collaging techniques, incorporating originally drawn as well as sourced images, which she views as representative of contemporary notions of femininity and desire
In recent years, Lubis has embraced a more introspective approach to art making, delving into the depths of her interior world and emotional history through intimate, intuitively-led drawings. This inward exploration unveils personalized symbology that mirrors her internal landscape and existential musings.
